Corby Glen Parish Council, as custodian of the Village Green, maintain appoximately 60 trees from the Walnut at New Row westwards along The Green then up the West Glen to the bend on Tanners Lane. Trees are a mix of Lime, Horse Chestnut, Sycamore, Field Maple, Cherry and other fruit, and individual specimen trees.  Of note are the recently planted Women’s Institute Cherry and the Honeywood Amelanchiers near the War Memorial. Trees have sometimes been planted in memoriam.

The only hedge maintained by the Parish Council is to the north of the play equipment, the hedges on Bourne Road, St John’s Drive, Swinstead Road, Tanners Lane etc and the beech and coniferous hedge to the north of the beacon on The Green are not the responsibility of the Parish Council.

To report issues with trees and hedges encroaching on highways and footways etc contact Lincolnshire County Council in the first instance.

The Parish Council has also been involved in planting trees on other land:

  • Pridmore Road (2)
  • Coronation St (1 to be replaced)
  • St Johns Drive, top (3) and bottom (2)
  • A151 / Tanners Lane Triangle (1)
  • Private land (various)

If you would like more trees on open public space in Corby Glen, contact the Parish Council with ideas. As of 2025, there are a variety of small saplings in the Parish Council’s possession that could be used, mainly Cherry – with two Giant Redwoods.

When new saplings have been planted, please help to keep them watered in hot spells.

The Parish Council:

  • cannot stop birds defecating from trees onto vehicles
  • will not arbitrate between neighbours over private and tree and hedge issues
  • will not address with individual residents or report issues with trees and hedges encroaching on highways and footways

Please do not cross over or park on The Village Green with vehicles due to tree root protection. There is evidence that trees have had to be felled due to this.
