This year marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and we invite our community to come together in remembrance, gratitude, and unity.
Thursday, 8 May – VE Day 80
9:00am – Flag Raising & Proclamation
We begin the day with a solemn moment as we raise the Union Flag and share the official VE Day 80 Proclamation.
21:15 – Beacon Gathering
Join us as we gather around the village beacon. The church will lead us with a short introduction, followed by a prayer and the Act of Commitment, as we reflect on the service and sacrifice of so many.
21:30 – Beacon Lighting & National Song
At 21:30, the beacon will be lit as a symbol of peace, hope, and resilience. Immediately after, we invite all villagers to lift their voices in unity as we sing “I Vow to Thee, My Country.”
Let’s show our village spirit – get your bunting up and help us mark this special day in true community style!
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our parish councillors, St John’s Church, Corby Glen Fire & Rescue, and all the residents who have given their time and effort to ensure this special commemoration could take place.
Let us stand together to honour the past and celebrate the peace they gave us.
We hope to see you there.
